Description

Overview

If you’re building a 2005–2017 Ford SuperDuty Dana 60 and want to run 8 x 6.5″ wheels instead of the factory 8 x 170mm pattern, this drill template allows you to accurately re-drill your unit bearings to the more common bolt pattern.

This is especially useful for 2001–2010 Chevy or GMC 2500/3500 solid axle swaps, allowing you to match your front axle to the factory rear wheel bolt pattern.

Install Notes

Unit Bearing

Bolt or clamp the 1/4″ thick template directly onto the existing wheel studs. Use a center punch to mark the new 8 x 6.5″ hole locations.

While you can drill through the template using a 1/4″ bit, repeated use may enlarge the holes and reduce accuracy. A center punch is recommended for best results.

Remove the template and secure the unit bearing in a drill press (hand drilling is not recommended). Drill the marked holes using a 1/4″ bit, then step up to a 19/32″ drill bit to finalize the hole size.

Once complete, press out the factory studs and install them into the newly drilled holes. Minor die grinding may be required for clearance.

Brake Rotor

After modifying the unit bearing, the brake rotor will also need to be drilled. Since the rotor is hub-centric, the template is not required.

Simply enlarge the existing holes using a 13/16″ drill bit so they fit over the new stud locations.
