Stop Bending Idler Arms on Your WD21 Pathfinder or D21 Hardbody

Stop Bending Idler Arms on Your WD21 Pathfinder or D21 Hardbody

One of the weakest points in the steering system on a WD21 Nissan Pathfinder or D21 Hardbody is the idler arm.

If you’ve upgraded to larger tires, spend time off-road, or wheel your truck hard, you’ve probably noticed that steering components start taking a beating. Loose steering, wandering on the highway, and premature wear can all become common problems.

When I was building Project Cheapfinder, I ran into exactly this issue. Running 34″ Super Swampers on a truck Nissan never intended to wear them on definitely wasn’t helping matters. Continue reading →

Biggest Tires You Can Fit on a Stock WD21 Pathfinder (34×10.5 Tested)

How to Fit 34-Inch Tires on a Stock WD21 Nissan Pathfinder

The biggest tires I have successfully fit on a stock-height WD21 Nissan Pathfinder are 34×10.5 Super Swamper LTBs on 15-inch wheels with 3.75 inches of backspacing.

On my Project Cheapfinder WD21 Pathfinder, I ran 34×10.5 tires with no suspension lift and no body lift. The catch is that tire width, wheel backspacing, and fender trimming matter just as much as tire height.

The short version: 34s fit, but I had to remove the factory flares, trim approximately 3 inches from the front and rear fenders, and fold the inner fender lips for clearance. Continue reading →

Windshield Install on a Nissan Pathfinder

Nissan Pathmaker Windshield Install

It was finally time to get around to installing the windshield that I pulled out of the Project Cheapfinder in a previous BLOG POST and toss it into the Pathmaker rig. Never having done it before this was going to be an interesting learning experience for me. My good friend Rich owns a glass shop in Kamloops BC Family Glass and he gave me a few pointers on what I should do. Of course I completely forgot everything he said right away so any screw ups are definitely my fault! Continue reading →

Plowfinder Project on the Pathmaker Rig

Plowfinder Project on the Pathmaker Rig

Mounting a snowplow on my rock crawler!

Living up on the mountain and snow is now a part of my life for months of the year. Last year I was not prepared so this year I decided to build a snow plow for my rock crawler, the Pathmaker Rig. Using a rusty old hitch and some welding wire I fabbed up an 84″ K2 Avalanche snowplow for my rig and even got a chance to test it out!
